In the run-up to the presidential and parliamentary elections in Turkey on May 14, the Peace Mothers in the Euphrates Region of North-East Syria called for support for the Green Left Party, under the umbrella of which the Peoples’ Democratic Party (HDP) is contesting because of the ongoing closure case against the party before the Constitutional Court of Turkey.

In a press statement in front of the office of Kobanê Council of Martyrs’ Families, Peace Mothers called on the people of Turkey and North Kurdistan to vote for the Green Left Party to make sure that the AKP-MHP is defeated and a democratic system is built.

“The people of North Kurdistan should not be deceived by the AKP which receives their votes and then massacres them,” said the statement.

Peace Mothers expressed their full solidarity with the Green Left Party and the people of North Kurdistan.
