Peace Mothers to go on hunger strike on 24 December
The Peace Mothers Assembly will go on hunger strike on 24 December to protest the denial of release of five jailed MPs of the BDP (Peace and Democracy Party).
Speaking at the weekly sit-in by Human Rights Association (IHD) and relatives of disappeared people in front of the Right to Live Monument at Kosuyolu Park in Diyarbakır, Peace Mothers Assembly member Nevriye Kaçar stated that they, as peace mothers, want peace and freedom for years, and that the AKP government however does not hear them.
Kaçar underlined that "Thousands of people fell victim to unidentified murders, our children were massacred by JITEM and their whereabouts still remains unknown. However, we still want peace and will not end our struggle until the perpetrators are taken to court”.
Kaçar added that they will launch hunger strike on 24 December to display their reaction against the courts denying the release of Kurdish deputies.
