People call for AKP to act on prisoners
In the Black Thursday (Kara Persembe) actions organized every Thursday to ask the governmentfor the release of Kurdish politicians, mayors and other elected representatives, people demanded an end to military operations. People also underlined that the PKK (Kurdistan Workers’ Party) has made an important will gesture by releasing the prisoners it was holding. A step, the speakers said, crucial to establish trust and confidence. The crowd asked to the government to show the same will and relase Kurdish politicians.
Black Thursday action were organized in Mardin's Derik district, Urfa'a Suruç and Viranşehir districts, Diyarbakır's Kayapınar district and Van and its Erciş district.
As well as hundreds of citizens, the actions were joined by BDP parliamentairans, mayors, members and BDP (Peace and Democracy Party) provincal and district executives, BDP municipality labourers and executives, DTK (Democratic Society Congress) members, Peace Mother Initiative activists, Peoples' Democratic Congress (HDK), KURDÎ-DER (Kurdish Language Research and Development Union), MADAY-DER, MEYA-DER, Tüm Bel-Sen, KESK, DİSK, TUYAD-DER, TUHAD-DER, IHD (Human Rights Association) and Egitim Sen executives and labourers.
