Special operation teams of police attempted to carry out house raids after blockading Kışla and Orman neighborhoods with armored vehicles in Yüksekova district of Hakkari late yesterday evening.
Operation teams opened fire on local people who threw stones at them reacting to the increasingly ongoing police activities in the district.
Clashes turned into an armed conflict after a while and lasted till midnight. While police units are reported to have targeted houses while opening fire on civilians, no information has been obtained yet whether the attack resulted in casualties and injuries.
A similar conflict took place in both neighborhoods on 14 April evening when police teams once again attempted to conduct house raids.
On the other hand, six youths who had been detained in the district as a result of police raids on 14 April, were remanded in custody and sent to Hakkari Closed Prison for allegedly "being member to an illegal organization", "wounding people", and "violating the freedom of people".
