People from Kobanê kept waiting at the border

While thousands of people who have recently crossed to Suruç district of Urfa after fleeing ISIS attacks in Kobanê Canton of West Kurdistan, Rojava, are turning back home, a group of people, most of whom are elders, women and children, wanting to enter the Suruç district is being kept waiting at the border for the last nine days, suffering from the sultry weather and sand storm.

Leyla Casim from western Kobanê, who is waiting across the Yumurtalık village of Suruç, along with her six-month-old baby, said that her relatives on the other side of the border aren't being allowed to give them water and bread even.

Casim from the village of Xızrê told ANF that; "We had nothing apart from the water and food we brought with us. I have a six-month-old baby who is also suffering from the sultry weather and sand storm that does not even let us open our eyes.” Casim added that youths have turned back to Kobanê.

Heci Xelil from the village of Degirman, who is also struggling to cross the border along with his 12 children, complained that; "The Turkish state is subjecting us to torture here for 9 days now. Together with 12 children, we are being forced to wait in the desert. Why would the world not see this?"

Araz Mem, who is coming from the village of Leçax 30 km to the Kobanê centre, said ISIS had seized their belongings besides their goods and animals after attacking their village. "We have nothing left but the cloth we are wearing. A humanitarian tragedy is taking place at the border for 9 days now."
