The Peoples' Democratic Party (HDP) Van Provincial Organization held a press statement regarding the provocation that took place in front of the party's headquarters in Ankara.
In the statement made in front of the provincial building, HDP Van provincial co-chairs and provincial and district administrators, HDP Van deputies Murat Sarısaç, Muazzez Orhan, Tayyip Temel, as well as Tevgera Jinên Azad (TJA), Democratic Regions Party (DBP) Provincial and District Organizations, MEBYA-DER members, members of the Solidarity with Prisoners Association TUHAY-DER, Democratic Society Congress (DTK), as well as many party members attended the press statement.
HDP Van Provincial Co-Chair Handan Karakoyun condemned the attack against their party and said: "This attack on our party is clearly an attack on women's organization and struggle. The attack once again showed how afraid they were of women's struggle. We will respond to the attacks by raising our organized struggle everywhere."
HDP Van MP Tayyip Temel said that this new attack means they are now facing the next stage of provocative attacks against their party. “A group of people is brought in front of our headquarters under the protection of hundreds of police, and even though they make their statements and leave, hundreds of policemen remain in front of the party’s office to guard the wreath the group left and prevent our party members from carrying out their work. Now we want to ask here, can a police officer threaten a member of parliament with death? Yes, he clearly did. Because, in Van and other cities, the police threatened many elected people with death. We saw this violence and threats in Van as well. While there is a ban on protests and demonstrations in Van for more than three years, some groups are brought before our party by the police and they are allowed to carry out all kinds of insults and attacks."
