Istanbul 12^th High Criminal Court ordered life sentence for sociologist Pinar Selek, who is accused of bombing Istanbul’s Spice Bazaar in 1998 despite having been acquitted on the same charges on three previous occasions. The court also issued an arrest warrant for Pinar Selek who is currently in Strasbourg for her academic studies.

Selek’s case has been ongoing since 1998 and was reopened three times in 14 years.

Selek was last acquitted for the third time by the İstanbul 12th High Criminal Court on 9 February 2011but the court decision was overturned by the Supreme Court of Appeals in November 2012.
