PKK prisoners to start indefinite hunger strike today

PKK (Kurdistan Workers' Party) prisoners are going on an indefinite hunger strike as from today. The decision has been taken to protest against the ongoing repression of Kurds by police and against the ongoing military operations carried out by the Turkish Army.

TUHAD-FED, the association of families and support for the prisoners has confirmed that the indefinite hunger strike will begin today. The prisoners are asking an answer to the four demands the Kurds have been asking for the past few months through their civil disobedience inititatives.

The four demands are. stop military and political operations, education in the mother tongue and providing constitutional guarantees for the use of the mother language in the public sphere, removing the 10 percent electoral threshold, release all political prisoners.
