A number of NGOs in Diyarbakır have founded the Platform of Halabja Genocide to condemn the genocides Kurds suffered in the month of March in various years.

The platform, consisting of a number of NGOs as well as Peace and Democracy Party (BDP), Democratic Society Congress (DTK), HDK (People's Democratic Congress), KADEP, DDKD, ÖSP, ESP and EMEP, has been founded not to allow the genocides of Halabja on 16 March 1988, Gazi on 12 March 1995, Beyazıt on 16 March 1978 and Qamislo on 12 March 2004 be forgotten.

Speaking at the press conference where the foundation of the platform was declared, HDK Diyarbakır Spokesman Hüseyin Bardakçı said that they will also organize commemorative ceremonies and activities for the mentioned March genocides.

According to the activity program read by Bardakçı, two press conferences will be held in Diyarbakır on 12 and 13 March and a torch-march will take place on the 16th. The march will be followed by a cinevision projection on Halabja. Five thousand candles will be lighted to remember the victims.
