Police attacked the march from Amed to Gemlik, organized with the motto of “As hundreds of thousands people, we march for the freedom of Leader Apo,” with tear gas canisters, plastic bullets and pressurized water. A 60 years old participant of Gemlik march was shot in the chest with plastic bullets.

Thousands of people gathered in front of DBP Amed City Building to join the TUHAD-FED led march organized with the motto of “As hundreds of thousands people, we march for the freedom of Leader Apo.” Police intercepted the march with panzers and Akrep armored vehicles with the claim that the march was banned, and attacked the crowd after HDP’s attempts to talk to the police and continue the march failed.

TUHAD-FED Co-President Bahar Oktay spoke in front of DBP Amed City Building, and recalled the state’s brutal treatment of the peoples of Kurdistan and Turkey. Oktay emphasized the importance of Kurdish People’s Leader Abdullah Öcalan’s will for peace despite his 17 year long isolation in prison, and said that Gemlik march aimed to break this isolation and bring peace to Kurdish, Turkish and all Middle Eastern people.

HDP Amed Parliamentarian Çağlar Demirel objected to police barricades, said that the police’s prevention of the march served war, and emphasized that they would struggle for Öcalan’s freedom. As the march ended, police attacked the crowd with tear gas canisters, plastic bullets and pressurized water. 60 years old Mehmet Sait Çintos was hit on hist chest with 4 plastic bullets, and immediately taken to a hospital with an ambulance.
