Mersin police, accompanied by numerous others from other cities, are attacking the people protesting against the Prime Minister who is in the city, joining the opening of 17th Mediterranean Games.
Turkish media broadcasts the opening, giving no reports of the brutal police attack against peaceful protestors who had planned to march to the stadium to display their reaction against the PM, Recep Tayyip Erdoğan.
Police attacked the protestors, thousands of people, using pressure water and tear gas. Injuries reported from the area.
Mediterranean Games have sparked outrage in the city as all tickets, some 20 thousand, were immediately sold in 15 minutes after being opened to sale, allegedly by an unconfirmed source. People in the city were denied the opportunity to attend the opening ceremony.
