Police detain Kobanê citizens treated in Urfa

Police forces raided a cottage house early this morning where six wounded people from Kobanê have been staying during their treatment in Urfa. The six Kobanê citizens, three people accompanying them and the owner of the house have been detained.

The six people who were wounded in clashes in Kobanê at different times and who officially crossed the border and have official records were detained in the raid. Police forces broke down the door of the house which is located in the Devşeti neighbourhood of Urfa early this morning and detained the six Kobanê citizens whose names have not yet been identified, as well as three people accompanying them and the owner of the house.

Giving information about the incident, the lawyer Bekir Benek said the police raided the house just like the way it was done in the nineties, seizing even a brand new wheelchair as evidence.

“The special forces with ski facemasks violently entered the house just like in the nineties. All the doors were broken. Even the medicine in the house was seized as an evidence of crime. We do not know on what grounds they were detained. These people from Rojava have official records. What has been done here was unlawful”, said Benek.

The detainees were first taken to the Mehmet Akif İnan Research Hospital for medical control and then to the police headquarters.
