Police forces attacked the demonstration organised by Contemporary Lawyers' Association (ÇHD) in İzmir province in protest at the detention of their colleagues in Antalya province.

A number of lawyers gathered in front of İzmir Courthouse which was surrounded by police forces as they started to make a press statement. Police later attacked the lawyers with tear gas and water cannons, saying that their press statement will not be allowed due to the ongoing State of Emergency.

Around 25 lawyers were battered and detained during the police crackdown, who were later forced into police buses and taken to Bozyaka State Hospital.
