Police harassed mothers on solidarity hunger strike

Turkish police blocked the building where the mothers of prisoners on hunger strike have gone on a solidarity fast demanding the end of isolation against Öcalan.

The mothers of prisoners on hunger strike demanding the end of isolation against Kurdish People's Leader Abdullah Öcalan have gone on a three-days hunger strike at Mersin HDP Provincial Organization.

During the night police armored vehicles cut off the access to the building and detained two people who were visiting the mothers.

HDP executives and lawyers intervened telling police that this attitude and the detention were not legal, to which police replied they would come back with an order from the prosecutor's office.

The police did not leave and the HDP executives confirmed that the mothers had no intention to stop their action.

The police said they would wait until the action ends.
