Police harassed students protesting at METU in Ankara

Police harassed the students who were holding a Vigil at the METU university in Ankara.

Middle East Technical University (METU) students, united in an initiative called Kavaklik, have been protesting for 55 days in the campus against the plan to build a new dormitory.

Resistance to the police threat

Despite the threat of the police against students who do not remove their tents, the students resisted and were told by the police that the rector had ordered them to end the protest.

HDP Izmir MP Murat Çepni and professors from METU were at the campus.

Students and academics protested chanting slogans and asking the “rector to resign”.
