Police prevents HDP from issuing statement on isolation

The police has surrounded the HDP Amed offices and is preventing HDP MPs and co-mayors from issuing a statement to draw attention to the isolation and hunger strikes.

Peoples’ Democratic Party (HDP) MPs and co-mayors who were to issue a press statement in front of the Diyarbakir Type E Prison about the isolation and hunger strikes are not allowed to leave the party offices. The HDP provincial offices have been surrounded with hundreds of police officers as well as armored vehicles and water cannons. The police have put up their shields so the journalists won’t be able to capture images of the MPs and co-mayors at the party building’s entrance and the journalists were removed from the vicinity.

Prisoners’ relatives, who were waiting for the MPs and co-mayors by the Diyarbakir Type E Prison, marched to the HDP offices and were also surrounded by the police.

The police continue to obstruct the MPs and co-mayors from marching to the prison.
