Police take six people into custody in Istanbul

Police attacked members of the Struggle Union Platform and İnşaat İş ve Enerji Sen trade union while they were marching towards Taksim Square to celebrate International Workers’ Day. Six people were taken into custody.

The members of the Struggle Union Platform and the İnşaat İş ve Enerji Sen trade union (part of the Confederation of Revolutionary Workers' Unions - DİSK), who wanted to march to Taksim in Istanbul to celebrate International Workers’ Day were attacked by the police.

The Struggle Union Platform members marched from Elmadağ to Taksim chanting slogans such as "Long live May 1", "Biji Yek Gulan". Two people from the group were detained.

İnşaat İş ve Enerji Sen members also tried to march to Taksim Square but. Police attacked them and detained at least 4 people.
