Political occupation in London: Kurdistan Place

The campaign to transfer the body of YPJ internationalist Anna Campbell to England, who died in a Turkish air raid in Afrin in March, has reached a new dimension. Friends of Anna occupied a vacant building in London and declared, "This is a political occupation".

As part of the #BringAnnaHome campaign, which began in March, a vacant building was occupied yesterday in London and proclaimed "Kurdistan Place". The occupied house also serves solidarity with the family of Anna Campbell and her friends of the YPJ and YPG.

The "Kurdistan Place" is located in the famous Marble Arch district in London. The squatters condemned the cooperation of the British government with the Turkish state and the occupation of Afrin and told the visitors of the achievements of the Rojava revolution. The center in London has banners of Abdullah Öcalan, Sakine Cansız, Anna Campbell and pictures by journalist and filmmaker Mehmet Aksoy, who was killed in an attack by the terrorist militia Islamic State (IS) in Raqqa in September. The walls of Kurdistan Place, where there are rooms for meetings and discussions, are painted with flags of the YPJ and YPG.

Anna's friends made a written statement stating, "We conducted this occupation to inform about the Kurdish culture and liberation of Kurdistan and to build an anti-capitalist, solidary organization."
