Political inmate İnan Şimşek in Burhaniye Prison in the western province of Balıkesir has been on hunger strike for the last 10 days.

İnan Şimşek in Balıkesir Burhaniye C Type Closed Prison announced through his family that he went on hunger strike 10 days ago in protest at the denial of transfer to the ward of political prisoners.

TAYD-DER İzmir Branch Chair Musa Karbadağ stated that details regarding Şimşek's situation will become clearer following his lawyer's visit to the prison.

Karbadağ stressed that transfers and exiles have become a weapon of the AKP government against political prisoners.
