Political prisoner in Iran sends solidarity message to prisoners in Turkey

Ebdulmutalib Ehmediyan, a political prisoner sentenced by the Iranian state to 30 years, called on the public and international human rights institutions not to remain silent about the injustices perpetrated in Turkey's prisons.

Kurdish political prisoner Ebdulmutalib Ehmediyan was arrested on 4 October 2010 and sentenced to 30 years in prison on charges of being a member of an opposition group. He is now in Minab Prison after spending nearly 230 days in solitary confinement. The prisoner sent a voice recording in which he conveyed his feelings of solidarity with all political prisoners from Northern Kurdistan.

In the audio recording, Ehmediyan, who had been deported to Saqiz prison, then to Sine, then to Evin, and finally to Recayi City prison in Kerec, reached Aryen TV. "I am political prisoner Ebdulmutalib Ehmediyan and I want to express my solidarity to our people in Bakur [North] Kurdistan and to all political prisoners”.

The Turkish regime fears President Öcalan

Prisoner Ehmediyan said that the torture and persecution of prisoners in Turkey's prisons stemmed from the Imrali torture system and added: "The persecution, torture, arrests and massacres of our people in Bakur Kurdistan by the Turkish regime have now gone beyond any limit. In fact, since the isolation on Rêber Apo in Imrali has been so severe, they have increased this level of cruelty and tyranny towards the prisoners. This is enough to prove to what extent Rêber Apo [President Abdullah Öcalan] is feared by the Turkish regime because he works for freedom and peace.”

Ehmediyan also drew attention to the indefinite and irreversible hunger strike of the prisoners and condemned the silence of international institutions and organizations.

Political prisoner Ehmediyan called out to the Kurdish people and the world, saying that “the Kurdish people must take a stance against the violations of their basic human rights. All human rights and political organizations should condemn the practices of the Turkish state.”

Finally, Ehmediyan commemorated Sakine Cansız (Sara), Fidan Doğan (Rojbin) and Leyla Şaylemez (Ronahi), on the 9th year of the Paris Massacre, and promised to continue the struggle of the martyrs.
