Political prisoners in Van end hunger strike
Forty-two inmates in Van F Type Prison who were on an indefinite-irreversible hunger strike since 27 October have ended their strike on Wednesday following the acceptance of their demands by the prison administration.
The strike was started by 32 political prisoners who were transferred to Van F Type Prison following the jailbreak of 18 PKK (Kurdistan Workers' Party) prisoners from Bingöl jail, in protest against the isolation and repression they were subject to since their transfer to Van. They were joined by ten other political prisoners last week.
The inmates have announced through their lawyer that they have ended the hunger strike on the eighteenth day following the acceptance of their demands by the prison administration.
