President Barzani and PM Erdoğan arrived in Amed
Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdoğan has arrived in Amed (Diyarbakır) on Saturday for a two-day visit which his government says will "boost the ongoing settlement process".
The president of the autonomous Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) Massoud Barzani entered Turkey via the Habur gate to join part of Erdoğan’s visit. He was accompanied by singer Şivan Perwer.
Diyarbakır Mayor Osman Baydemir and Diyarbakır independent deputies Leyla Zana and Altan Tan met President Barzani.
The Prime Minister is being accompanied by his deputies, Bülent Arınç and Bekir Bozdağ, as well as Foreign Minister Ahmet Davutoğlu.
In Diyarbakır, Erdoğan will attend several opening ceremonies of newly built facilities and participate in wedding ceremonies. Erdoğan is expected to discuss the settlement process, the role of the PKK in settlement talks and the situation of Syrian Kurds in his talks with Barzani.
