Prison sentence for fascist Turk who attacked Kurds in Austria

A Turkish man that had driven into the crowd in a demonstration by Kurds in Austria and wounded 2 people last year has been sentenced to 3 years in prison.

The long march held last year between St. Pölten and Vienna to protest the international conspiracy against Kurdish People’s Leader Abdullah Öcalan had been attacked, a 53 year old Turkish fascist had driven his vehicle into the crowd and wounded 2 people.

The attacker had been neutralized and handed over to the police by the activist afterwards. The Turkish man’s trial reached a verdict yesterday. He denied any massacre plans in the hearing but the court didn’t find his statement that he “was in a hurry and wasn’t paying attention” convincing. The judges pointed out that the route the attacker used to get from Tulln to St. Pöten was not “rational”.

The court defined the Turkish man as “a very aggressive type” and the prosecutor demanded strict sentences for “knowingly attempting to provoke conflict” and “planning to harm people”. The attacker received a 3 year prison sentence, with at least 12 months without bail. The Kurdish activists wounded in the attack will receive a total of 4.900 Euros in compensation.
