The prisoners in Adana Kürkçüler F Type Prison were attacked with batons by the guards.

Fatih Özgür Aydın's mother Emine Aydın, one of the prisoners who was beaten, spoke to ANF.

Emine Aydın learned about the assault carried out on 19 August during her weekly telephone conversation with his son on 23 August. She said: "My son Özgür is staying in the cell with Ramazan Anık and Erdal Berk. In a phone call on Saturday, he said that they were attacked with batons because they reacted to the guards who came to pick up Ramazan Anık, who had been punished to solitary cell on Monday, 19 August."

Emine Aydın added: "My son explained that their cell had been raided by about 20 guards and that they had been beaten. There are bruises all over their bodies. He said that they filed a criminal complaint on the subject but the prosecutor who took their statements dismissed their claims, saying that  such things would not happen in the institution and tried to cover up the torture."

Emine  Aydın said she is waiting answer from the courthouse but so far she got no answer.

She added that her son was given a 5-month ban on visits and now she is concerned for his safety.

Aydın was transferred from Silivri 9 No Prison to Adana Kurkcular Prison 2 years ago.

Saying that she expects every phone call with fear, Emine Aydın demanded that the guards beating his son and friends be punished immediately.
