Protests against isolation in 3 Swiss regions

Solidarity with Kurdish hunger strikers against the isolation of Abdullah Öcalan is growing.

Actions and demonstrations in solidarity with the Kurdish activists on hunger strike demanding the end of the isolation against Abdullah Öcalan were promoted in Switzerland.

The people in the various actions commended HDP Hakkari MP Leyla Güven who launched the hunger strike and the other activists.

Biel

Activists gathered in front of the central train station in Biel, Switzerland to join the demonstration promoted by the Solidarity with Hunger Strikes Platform.

“Kurdish activists are on an indefinite hunger strike against isolation” said the banner carried by activists.

In the speeches delivered at the action it was underlined that the hunger strikers had reached a critical stage. International institutions, and in particular the CPT, were urged to act.

Solothurn

The Solidarity with Hunger Strikes Platform promoted an action at Bahnhofplatz in Solothurn to support the hunger strikers demanding the end of isolation of Abdullah Öcalan.

Activists said that “every patriot must stand up and join this resistance by participating at the various actions.”

Sion

In the canton of Sion women's organizations held a preparatory meeting for an event to coincide with the 17 June Swiss Women's Strikes. At the meeting women expressed solidarity and support to DTK co-chair and HDP Hakkari MP Leyla Güven and the other hunger strikers.

Kurdish women underlined the important role of Kurdish women in the fight against DAESH and reminded that over 300 political prisoners, including many women and elected representatives, are on hunger strike in Turkey, Kurdistan and Europe.
