Protests against the AKP government’s attacks continue in Europe

People of Kurdistan and their allies came together in several European cities to protest AKP fascism’s political genocide attacks and massacres against Kurdish people, and raised awareness among citizens and political parties.

VIENNA

People of Kurdistan and their allies organized a protest in front of the Turkish Embassy in Vienna, Austria, to demand the freedom of political prisoners and the reopening of the organizations that have recently been shut down. Led by the Kurdish women’s organization AVESTA, protestors condemned the attacks on the HDP and Kurdish organizations, and warned that Turkey’s policies of oppression and assimilation would be met with resistance. Protestors chanted the slogans of ‘Dictator Erdoğan’ and distributed hundreds of pamphlets on recent operations and political developments.

AIRPORT OCCUPATION IN ITALY

A group of Kurdish people in Malpensa occupied the biggest airport in North Italy and called upon the international public to take action against Erdoğan’s fascism. Protestors chanted slogans such as ‘Long Live HDP,’ ‘Murderer Erdoğan’ and ‘Fascist Erdoğan,’ and informed travelers about recent political developments.

WALSRODE

Hundreds of people of Kurdistan and their allies held a march in the Walsrode city of Germany’s Niedersachsen region. The march organized by the Democratic Kurdish Society Center and Ronahi Women’s Assembly began in front of the municipal building at 16:00, and protestors gave a file on the arrests of Kurdish politicians to the Walsrode Municipal Assembly. Despite the heavy rain, the protestors marched with the posters of Kurdish People’s Leader Abdullah Öcalan and chanted slogans such as ‘Dictator Erdoğan’ and ‘Long Live Leader Apo.’ Hundreds of pamphlets were distributed and a press statement was made during the march.

FREIBURG

A Committee of the Democratic Kurdish Society Center and Kurdistan Solidarity Committee in Freiburg had a meeting with the Social Democrat Party (SPD) parliamentarian Gernot Erler and discussed the arrests of HDP parliamentarians including co-presidents Selahattin Demirtaş and Figen Yüksekdağ. The committee gave Erler a file on the AKP’s authoritarian policies in Kurdistan and Turkey, and Erler promised that he would join the German parliamentarians that offer protection to the HDP.
