Protests in Europe call for justice for Sakine, Fidan, Leyla

Protests calling for justice for 3 Kurdish revolutionary women, Sakine Cansız, Fidan Doğan and Leyla Şaylemez, who were murdered in Paris on 9 January 2013, are continuing in Europe. Rallies took place in Berlin, Stuttgart and Düsseldorf in Germany, Strasbourg in France, and Antwerp in Belgium yesterday.

BERLIN

A protest under the name of ‘is your silence because of your guilt?’ was organised to demand justice for Sakine Cansız, Fidan Doğan and Leyla Şaylemez in front of the French Embassy in Berlin. The protesters said: “we will shout our demand for justice at the 22nd international Kurdish Cultural Festival.” Pictures of Sakine Cansız, Fidan Doğan and Leyla Şaylemez were carried and leaflets in German and English were distributed to highlight the silence of the French government.

STUTTGART

Kurdish women in Stuttgart carried out a protest calling for the Paris massacre to be resolved. An the protest in front of the French Consulate, leaflets about the massacre in Sinjar by ISIS gangs and about the condition of Yezidi Kurds were distributed and posters of the 3 Kurdish revolutionary women were carried. The participators stated that the protests will continue until the French government reveals the forces behind this massacre.

DUSSELDORF

Another protest was organised in Dusseldorf in front of the French Consulate by the Viyan and Arjin Women's Assembly and Women's Peace Office. Peace mother Şenge made a speech and recalled that the forces behind the Paris massacre had yet to be revealed after 609 days. She stated that their protests will continue until all details of the massacre are revealed. While Şenge condemned the Sinjar massacre in her speech, she said that as women, they greeted the resistance of Sinjar, Rojava and Makhmur.

STRASBOURG

Kurdish people living in Strasbourg gathered in front of the Strasbourg governor's office to demand the French government reveal the forces behind the massacre.

ANTWERP

A protest under the name of ‘is your silence is because of your guilt?’ continued in Antwerp demanding those responsible for of the massacre of Sakine Cansız, Fidan Doğan and Leyla Şaylemez be revealed. The rally was organised in Groemarkt place and posters of the 3 revolutionary women, posters of PKK leader Abdullah Öcalan and flags of the KJB were carried. While the massacres of Kurdish people by ISIS gangs was condemned, the resistance of Sinjar was greeted.
