Protests in Isfahan step up after three days of unrest

Demonstrations are spreading to many Iranian cities.

The demonstrations in the Iranian city of Isfahan have spread to other cities on Thursday.

Protesters are condemning the cut in electricity and the shortage of water and blame the government’s poor policies for it.

Regime forces have attacked protesters with gas bombs and teenagers clashed with security forces and set tires on fire. Demonstrators managed to repel regime security forces in some streets.

In the Amir Kabir, Mushhir al-Duwlah, and Hazardestan streets violent clashes were reported between Isfahan protesters and state forces. Smoke was seen rising above Shapur Jadidand as many streets were turned into battlefield.

As demonstrations continued in Isfahan for the third day, it was reported that the state forces had taken a large number of people into custody.

Protests in Tehran

Meanwhile news are coming through of a protest on Tuesday, in the western suburb of Karam, in the capital Tehran.

Demonstrators are said to have clashed with security forces until late at night.

In the city of Mashad residents took to the street to protests against the Iranian regime and its economic and social policies.

For weeks now people in various regions of Iran have been on the streets protesting against the policies of the government, held responsible for water shortages, poor economic performances and a devaluation of the Iranian Rial against the USD.

The latest to join the protests were the truck drivers that paralysed the country for a week.

Queues at gas stations are getting longer and longer. The markets are empty.

Iranian officials cannot hide their concern as several decades ago, the Shah regime had received a heavy blow when oil workers went on strike.
