Public meetings banned in Ankara for 45 days

Ankara Governorate has banned all public meetings, demonstrations and marches in the capital city for 45 days for “security reasons”.

The Governorate of Ankara which has already denied permission for any kind of events and demonstrations during the recent period has now officialised the state of siege across the Turkish capital city.

The Governor's Office said in a statement that all public meetings, demonstrations and marches have been banned till November 30 on the grounds of “probable attack attempts by terrorist organisations”.

Ankara Governorate has most recently denied permission for the events to commemorate the victims of last year's October 10 massacre and the mass demo of KESK (Confederation of Public Workers) on October 15 for the same reason which was also cited for the obstruction of the Day of Ashura events.
