The congress was held at the Kurdish Community Center in Zurich (CDK-Zurich) and started with a minute of silence in memory of the martyrs of the Kurdish Freedom Struggle, and in particular the martyrs of the 19 July Rojava Revolution.

PYD European Representative Abdülselam Mustafa evaluated the current political developments. "With the Rojava Revolution the Kurdish people has achieved many gains thanks to the heroes of this revolution."

Stating that women's resistance in Rojava is an example for the peoples of the world, Musatafa added: "Half of the 11,000 martyrs in Rojava were women who set an example for the world with their struggle against ISIS."

The congress elected new representatives and ended with the slogan "We will build democratic Syria with the spirit of the July 19 revolution".
