PYD: US decision serves the terrorist organizations in Syria

PYD: “The US decision serves terrorist organizations gathered in Syria like ISIS, Al Nusra, Huras Al Din and Turkistan Islamic Party who take their orders from Ankara.”

Democratic Union Party (PYD) issued a written statement on the US government’s decision on the 3 PKK leading cadres and said: “It is clear that the PKK exists for a just solution to the Kurdish issue as a movement of Kurdistan. If the US’ role in global politics and presence in the Middle East aims to resolve the crises in the Middle East like the Syrian crisis and to create a safe atmosphere, it is clear that the statement by the US State Department doesn’t serve this aim. On the contrary, it grows the crisis and makes it more dangerous.”

PYD General Assembly stressed that at a time when the Kurdish issue, the key to stability and security in the Middle East, needs to be resolved, the US State Department has issued a decision against 3 leading cadres of the PKK: “In totalitarian systems that assume methods against the will of the people, it can be seen that the fraternity of peoples, the common life and the unity of their fate faces destruction. On the other hand, these systems can be seen standing with terrorism and supporting terrorists.

“THE DECISION IS POLITICAL AND FAR REMOVED FROM REALITY”

As the Democratic Unity Party (PYD) General Assembly we see this decision as political and far removed from reality, with no legal or societal foundation. We state that the time the decision is issued in serves hate speech and destruction culture. The decision also serves terrorist organizations gathered in Syria like ISIS, Al Nusra, Huras Al Din and Turkistan Islamic Party who take their orders from Ankara.

The PKK has fought against terrorism in Shengal and protected thousands of civilians in Hewler, Kirkuk and Kobanê. It has played a great role in the start of the demise of ISIS terrorism. As such, the US decision is rife with conflict. YPG and YPJ fighters are on their way to end ISIS terrorism with support from the International Coalition, led by the US.

"THE DECISION ADVERSELY AFFECTS THE WAR AGAINST TERRORISM"

It is clear that the PKK exists for a just solution to the Kurdish issue as a movement of Kurdistan. If the US’ role in global politics and presence in the Middle East aims to resolve the crises in the Middle East like the Syrian crisis and to create a safe atmosphere, it is clear that the statement by the US State Department doesn’t serve this aim. On the contrary, it grows the crisis and makes it more dangerous. The issues that need resolving are pushed down a wrong path, and Ankara is handed an excuse to increase hostility against the region’s peoples, starting with the Kurdish people, and to implement genocide and assimilation policies. The experience of the past 7 years has revealed that Ankara and terrorist organizations are one and the same. The decision by the US also adversely affects the war against terrorism.

"THE DECISION MEANS A TARGETING OF THE PEOPLE OF KURDISTAN"

We are calling on the US to fulfill their duties and pressure Ankara to reactivate the peace process that has been put on hold for more than 3 years by the Turkish regime’s hostile approach, to achieve peace in Turkey. We state that this decision targeting the PKK means targeting the will of Kurdistan’s peoples and the Kurdistan’s peoples themselves.

As a party that strives for a solution to the Kurdish issue and the establishment of democracy in Syria, we are calling on all Kurdish parties and all patriotic and democratic forces in Kurdistan, Syria and the Middle East, to all NGOs and human rights organizations to take a stand to stop the attacks against Kurdish people, and to work together and fight for the resolution of the Kurdish issue.”
