In Istanbul a fan of the football club Amedspor has been beaten by fans of the Turkish club Sarıyer. The victim Mehmet A.K. was on his way to the match between the two sides on Saturday when he was stopped by Sarıyer fans and asked if he was Kurd. When he said yes, he was beaten up by several people.

The Amedspor football club reported in a statement that three more fans of the Kurdish team were victims of racist attacks and beaten up at the entrance of the stadium. In addition, the club announced that it would initiate legal action together with those affected.

“Despite these attacks, Amedspor will continue to welcome the teams coming to our city with hospitality and will not give up on its mission and vision for peace,” announced the club.
