Relatives of seven civilians who were targeted and killed by Turkish warplanes during the aerial bombardment on August 21 have sue Turkey. Twelve civilians, included seven children, have lost their lives in the the last two months during the Turkish and Iranian attacks.
In a statement to Rûdaw website, victim Ismail Resûl’s brother Yaqûb Resûl has reported that they have opened a case against the Government of Turkey at Qeladizê court four days ago. “Our court file will be conveyed to Halabja and then to international courts and we will never give up the case until justice has been served” said Resûl.
Turkish warplanes targeted a civilian vehicle in Kortek village of Piþder in Southern Kurdistan, killing four children, two women and a man from the same family. The bodies of victims were burnt and fell to pieces as a result of the attack.
The Turkish and Iranian attacks affect mostly the civilians. While three civilians including a child lost their lives in Hacý Ümran and Sidekan during the Iranian bombardment in the second half of July, a 15-year-old boy and a woman were killed during the bombardment between September 2nd and 4th. According to ANF’s records, the attacks of both countries killed 12 civilians, including seven children, in the last two months.
While hundreds of villagers were subject to migration due to Turkey and Iran’s attacks, the sub-structures of residential areas were heavily damaged and forests, fields and gardens were burned down.
Turkish and Iranian attacks led to civilian casualties similarly in the past year. While three civilians including two children lost their lives during the Iranian attacks in South Kurdistan in 2010, Turkish attacks killed two civilians, one being a 15-year-old girl Zahimed Mihemed Mecid, and wounded seven in Sidekan on 19 June 2010.
