The sit-in-act by Human Rights Association (IHD) and relatives of disappeared people continued on the 221st week with demands for the disclosure of the aftermath of people whose murders in 90' still remain unsolved.
The weekly "Find the disappeared, try the perpetrators" sit-in in front of the Right to Live Monument at Kosuyolu Park in Diyarbakır was joined by Peace and Democracy Party (BDP) deputy Nursel Aydoğan, IHD Diyarbakır branch executives and members, representatives of Peace Mothers Initiative, MEYA-DER as well as a number of relatives of disappeared people.
Speaking here, IHD Diyarbakır Branch Chair Raci Bilici called attention to the importance of the ongoing process for democratization and solution to the Kurdish question and called on all circles to display sensitivity towards the process and to avoid provocative attitudes. Bilici pointed out that the ongoing military activity and operations in the Kurdish region should end, the Turkish military forces active in the Kurdish region should be withdrawn and the activities of village guards should be terminated in line with the withdrawal of PKK (Kurdistan Workers Party) forces to begin on 8 May. Referring to the ongoing KCK trials, Bilici said Kurdish politicians suffering from the violation of the freedom of expression and organization should be released in the soonest time.
Following Bilici's speech, IHD Diyarbakır executive Gamze Yalçın told the story of Haldun Ünver whose whereabouts has remained unknown since 1996 when he was allegedly last seen at Habur border gate.
Speaking after, BDP deputy Nursel Aydoğan pointed out that revealing the truth on disappeared people and ensuring justice for them should be the first step to be taken in the currently ongoing peace process.
