No indictment has yet been presented for five Roboski villagers who have been held under arrest for eight months on the basis of statements by secret witnesses. Relatives of the victims have been subjected to a legal process instead of those responsible for the massacre of 34 civilians among whom 19 were children.
Five Roboski suspects were arrested and sent to Þýrnak Closed Prison one week after the massacre which took place on 28 December 2011- for allegedly intending to kill Uludere Governor Naif Yavuz who was attacked during the funeral ceremony of victims.
Five other people are tried without arrest and a warrant was issued for the arrest of fifteen others in the scope of the investigation into the relatives of Roboski victims.
Speaking to ANF about the investigation, Ferhat Encü who lost his 11 relatives in the massacre and is tried without arrest pointed out that the Turkish state is trying to take revenge on the people of Roboski. Encü who was taken into custody four times since the event said that the prosecutor is deliberatively abstaining from preparing the indictment.
The Prosecutor told me that charges against the suspects will not be filed unless all of them have been arrested, said Encü and commented this situation as unacceptable at all.
Encü noted that five detained suspects of the investigation have been forced to act as secret witness and to bear testimony against deputy Hasip Kaplan and other members of the Peace and Democracy Party (BDP). Encü remarked that these five people have been promised to be released on condition of testifying that BDP members had given the order for the attack on the governor during the funeral ceremony.
Davut, Servet and Hacý Encü who survived the air strike of Turkish jets used in the massacre has also been investigated on charges of opposing to the passport law, illegal border violation and bringing smuggled goods across the border.
