The sit-in-act by Human Rights Association (IHD) and relatives of disappeared people continued on the 252th-week with demands for the disclosure of the aftermath of people whose murders still remain unsolved.
The weekly "Find the disappeared, try the perpetrators" sit-in in front of the Right to Live Monument at Kosuyolu Park in Diyarbakır was joined by IHD executives and members, activists of of Peace Mothers Initiative and MEYA-DER, as well as a number of relatives of disappeared people.
Speaking here, IHD Amed Branch chair Raci Bilici strongly condemned the murder of Reşit İşbilir (35) and Veysel İşbilir (34) who were shot dead by Turkish police, special operation teams, during a demo in Gever, Hakkari's Yüksekova district yesterday.
Bilici stated that the murder of civilians has become a tradition in Turkey as security forces continue to kill people with the support of political forces and government.
Also condemning the governor's statement in which two men were accused of going into combat with police with heavy weapons, Bilici said the governor protected the perpetrators and called on the government to lay the governor off in order to prove its sincerity about democratisation and the rule of law.
Speaking after, Association of Free Journalists (ÖGC) President Hayrettin Çelik remembered the journalists killed by dark forces in Turkey for exposing the truths and counter-guerrilla activities in the Kurdish region.
Çelik stressed that dozens of journalists in Turkey were killed due to the attitude displayed by Turkey's political authorities against the change the free press tradition has created.
BDP (Peace and Democracy Party) deputy co-chair Meral Danış Beştaş criticized the Turkish media's distortion of the truths about yesterday's police killings in Yüksekova and stressed that police used heavy weapons against demonstrators, as has also been proved by the autopsy report.
