Eligible voters in Europe can go to the polls and vote for a new parliament and president until 9 May. Supporters of the Green Left Party are working at full speed to bring voters to the polls.
Kongra-Gel co-chair Remzi Kartal told ANF that the 14 May elections are an opportunity for the democratization of the Republic of Turkey “founded on denial and annihilation” and called on everyone to vote for the Green Left Party.
Kartal said: “The 2023 elections are not ordinary elections. They come at a crucial time. For 100 years – since the signing of the Treaty of Lausanne - a policy of denial towards the Kurdish people has been pursued.”
The Kurdish politician continued: “The open war that has been going on for eight years represents an attempt by the AKP-MHP regime to break the will of the Kurdish people. But there is a lot of resistance against it. This resistance has left the fascist policy against the Kurdish people on the brink of defeat. It is in such a context that the elections take place. These elections can serve to put an end to the AKP-MHP regime. That is why they are of immense importance to the people of Kurdistan and everyone who wants democracy."
APPEAL TO VOTERS IN EUROPE
Remzi Kartal appealed to voters in Europe and said: “These elections are very important. It's not enough to just walk up and cast your vote. People need to go door to door and make people understand the importance of these elections. We must increase participation. Our councils, institutions and organizations must mobilize even more and focus only on the elections. Not only Kurds, but all democratic sections and opposition groups must come together and organize those entitled to vote. We must give our votes to the Green Left party. We have to mobilize and get people to the polls.”
