Reports contradict Istanbul Governor's statements

Three people, including one minor aged 14, are still being held in intensive care unit since they were subjected to brutal police violence during the last two days' Gezi Park protests.

Speaking to press on Sunday, Governor of Istanbul Hüseyin Avni Mutlu claimed that none of the protestors wounded during the protests faced critical situation.

According to figures compiled by ETHA news agency, a number of people were wounded in Istanbul in the last two days and many of them were hit on the head with tear gas canister or rubber bullet. Three are in critical condition.

Fourteen year old minor B.E. was hit on the head with tear gas canister during the yesterday morning's attack against protestors in the neighborhood of Mahmut Şevket Paşa in Okmeydanı. The minor was taken under an operation for the second time after having another brain hemorrhage last night. The child is still in life-threatening condition.

Another protestor, Can Tekin, is also held in intensive care unit at Şişli Eftal Hospital after police hit him the head with a rubber bullet early Sunday morning on Halaskargazi Street.

Dilan Dursun (19) has also undergone a brain surgery after she was hit on the head with tear gas canister during the protests in Ankara. She is in intensive care unit as well.

Twenty-three years old Murat Çahan is facing the risk of losing sight. The boy was hit on the eye with tear gas canister police fired in Osmanbey metro station.

Actor Galip Görür was also hit on the eye with a rubber bullet police fired. The actor underwent an operation.

The Socialist Party of the Oppressed (ESP) Istanbul Chairperson Çiçek Otlu was also hit on the leg with a tear gas caniester police fired at close range.

ESP member Anıl Çalışkan was hit on the neck and stomach with rubber bullet during the protests in Taksim yesterday.
