Resistance makes you free

Kardo Bokani and Muhamed Ghadari are two Kurdish activists from Rojhilat who are on day 149 of hunger strike in Strasbourg.

Kardo Bokani is one of the 14 Kurdish activists on hunger strike in Strasbourg. He is demanding the end of isolation against Kurdish People's Leader Abdullah Öcalan since he joined the resistance led by Leyla Güven.

Bokani spoke to Yeni Özgür Politika about the resistance in Strasbourg. “The mothers of peace have succeeded in any step they have taken. This serhildan (uprising) must grow.”

Ghadari and Bokani are the two activists from Rojhilat who have joined the hunger strike in Strasbourg city of France.

Kardo Bokani said that they continue their hunger strike with great morale and determination. He touched upon the silence that started to be broken under the leadership of the mothers of peace, and pointed out that “all of our people should raise this movement.”

Referring to the fact that the hunger strike resistance is growing with each passing day, Bokani continued: “As the days pass, the resistance is widening and has a great impact in terms of international diplomacy. A few days ago, our voice was raised before the government in the British Parliament. This shows that there is a great pressure on Turkey. But this is not enough. We must not be deceived by this, we should not be fooled by such things. We want the isolation of Serok Apo to be lifted completely. And to reach this aim of course we are ready to pay any price. But before the death fast reaches a very critical stage, our people must stand up and step up the serhildan which is led by the mothers of peace.”

Actions in Rojhilat

Muhamed Ghadari said that he got great morale from the meeting held in Imralı between the Kurdish leader and his lawyers. He added that he was in bed when news of the meeting reached him and that he immediately got up and felt a great motivation.

Stating that the leadership and Kurdistan could be liberated by the resistance, Ghadari said that the hunger strike resistance had an impact all over Kurdistan. “Our resistance has found an echo in Rojhilat. Our friends in the Iranian prisons also joined the action.

The photo of the leader was tied to balloons released in the air. In Rojhilat actions are increasing every day. To achieve a free country we need unity. We need to fight hand in hand.”
