Roboski Massacre to be taken to the ECHR

Roboski residents’ mission for justice for the 34 massacred civilians had entered its 5th year before 2 more people were killed. Now the mission will continue for 36 lives lost.

In Roboski, where the chain of state-committed massacres grow, the date was December 28, 2011 when Turkish fighter jets had murdered 34 civilians, of whom 19 were children. Roboski faced another massacre before the culprits of the first one were brought to justice. In the second massacre committed by the state under AKP’s orders on May 29, 16 year old Vedat Encü lost his life on the spot and 17 year old Yılmaz Encü first had his leg amputated and then succumbed to his wounds. Roboski residents were seeking justice after the massacre of the 34 civilians, and faced oppression and violence instead of seeing the perpetrators brought to justice. The second massacre came at a time like this and exposed the prevalent injustice and unlawfulness in Turkey once more.

Roboski residents’ mission for justice for the 34 massacred civilians had entered its 5th year before 2 more people were killed. Now the mission will continue for 36 lives lost. The families are taking the case to the ECHR as the legal process to have the perpetrators face trial is resulting in impunity and the case is being covered up. Reports say the Roboski case file prepared by the lawyers to be submitted to the European Court of Human Rights (ECHR) will be submitted in 2 weeks in the latest.
