Sakine Cansız's funeral ceremony under investigation

The Public Prosecutor of Tunceli and Specially Authorized Public Prosecutor of Malatya have launched an investigation into the funeral ceremony of Sakine Cansız, a co-founder of Kurdistan Workers Party (PKK), who was one of the three Kurdish women killed in Paris together with Fidan Doğan, Kurdistan National Congress (KNK) representative in Paris, and Leyla Şaylemez, member of the Kurdish youth movement, on 9 January.

Cansız's funeral ceremony in her hometown, Dersim, was attended by thousands of people on 18 January.

It has been reported that the investigation has been launched in relation to the speeches made by DTK (Democratic Society congress) co-chair Aysel Tuğluk, BDP (Peace and Democracy Party) group deputy chair İdris Baluken, BDP Dersim provincial chair Şerafettin Halis, Dersim Mayor Edibe Şahin and the President of Pir Sultan Abdal Associations, Kemal Bülbü at the funeral.
