Sanpolino Neighborhood Christmas tree dedicated to the people of Rojava and Kurdistan

“Those whom we called heroes when they reconquered the territories occupied by ISIS, paying a very high price in terms of human lives, are now the victims of a conflict desired and implemented by the Turkish government.”

In Brescia,Italy, the Sanpolino Neighbourhood Council dedicated the Neighborhood Christmas tree decorations to the people of Rojava and Kurdistan under attack by the Turkish state.

This morning in Brescia, Italy, the Sanpolino Neighbourhood Council, which is part of the city's municipality, decorated the neighbourhood Christmas tree with the flags of the Women's Protection Units (YPJ), the Kurdistan Communities Union (KCK), and other symbols of the Kurdish liberation movement.

This year, the neighbourhood council decided to dedicate the installation to the people of Rojava and all of Kurdistan still under Turkish attack. "This year," said the representatives of the Neighbourhood Council during a press conference, "we decided to dedicate the neighbourhood tree to a war that no one talks about, that of which the Kurdish population of Rojava, a territory north of Syria, has been under heavy attack by the Turkish government for years. Those whom we called heroes when they reconquered the territories occupied by ISIS, paying a very high price in terms of human lives, are now the victims of a conflict that it is not convenient to talk about, because it was desired and implemented by the Turkish government, an ally of Western states, which does not disdain the use of chemical weapons. We want to remember the victims of this war.

“It is our way of expressing closeness and solidarity with those who, with the motto 'Jin, Jiyan, Azadi', [Woman, Life and Freedom[, are trying to build a better world," the Sanpolino councillors concluded.
