Saturday Mothers remembered Seyhan Doðan who disappeared when 13

Saturday Mothers gathered for the 328th time in front of Galatasaray High School in Taksim central Ýstanbul on Saturday. The meeting this week was dedicated to Seyhan Doðan, who was taken into custody in 1997 and disappeared in Dargeçit, a district of Mardin. The boy was only 13.

His 12-year-old niece Evin Doðan addressed the crowd sayin; “He was exactly like me. His hands were probably very small like mine. You have seen me. What can a state, any state, want from one who is like me, a child? They stole his childhood and also mine. I’m with my family looking for justice for Seyhan since I was born. I’m asking masked men who took my little uncle’s life; did you think about your children when you were killing my uncle Seyhan.”

The mothers condemned the national wide TV channel NTV administration for firing democrat and progressive anchorwomen Banu Güven who had been with Saturday Mothers for many time.

Tobacco seller and father of seven Vasýf Öztürk, who was disappeared during custody 17 years ago in Diyarbakýr, was another victim commemorated by Mothers.
