Saturday's Mothers begun protest in Yüksekova

The Saturday's Mothers have declared that as of today they will organize a sit in in Yüksekova every Saturday.

The decision was taken by the Mothers to highlight the tragedy of "unsolved murders" and "disappeared" people in the areo of Yüksekova.

Amed IDH (Human Rights Association) executive, Necibe Güneş Perinçek, said there is a need, today more than ever, for these actions asking for justice and truth over the disappearances to take place all over the Kurdish region. "Especially in the '90s - says the IHD executive - unsolved murders and disappearences were taking place almost on a daily basis in our region. The Saturday's Mothers started their sit in in Istanbul, demanding truth over what happened to their loved ones".

Disappearances and murders by "unknown" killers have been politically motivated in Kurdistan as well as in many Turkish cities, like Istanbul. The victims were carefully chosen among politicians, journalists, trade unionists, students, political activists, human rights activists, but many disappeared and met an horrendous death only for being Kurd.

The killers have been known all along, as JITEM special units were created also to get rid of Kurdish figures. Yet no one has been so far brought to justice for these killings and the disappeared people and their relatives still fight for justice and the truth after many decades.
