The office of lawyers belonging to the Çaðdaþ Hukukçular Derneði (ÇHD) have been raided by police this morning in Istanbul. It is understood that at least 60 people have been taken into custody including at least 15 lawyers. According to reports the new operation is against the left group DHKPC.
ÇHD general president Selçuk Kozaðaçlý has ben reached by a custody order.
Many private houses and association, including the Okmeydaný based Ýdil Kültür Merkezi (Idil Cultural Centre) have been raided by police.
Speaking to DIHA News Agency reporter, the president of the Istanbul office of lawyers Taylan Tanay confirmed that at least 10 lawyers have been detained.
It is understood that the operation involved also the cities of Izmir and Ankara.
