SDF: 12 villages and 15 hamlets liberated in one week

YPG-led Syrian Democratic Forces have made advances and delivered heavy blows to ISIS gangs since they resumed the Operation Cizire Storm one week ago to clear the Dashisha area from DAESH (ISIS) mercenaries and secure the Iraq-Syria border.

The Press Office of Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) announced the one-week balance sheet of the Operation Cizire Storm re-launched against ISIS south of Hesekê (Hasakah) last Monday.

The statement by SDF Press Office said the following;

“Our forces entered the first week of the campaign to liberate Al-Dashisha town in Al-Hasaka countryside with field progress on both the eastern and western fighting axes, moving according to the plan prepared by the operations room to inflict heavy losses on Daesh mercenaries. Our forces were able to advance 9 km on the eastern axis and 13 km on the western axis.

The villages liberated by our forces are Hamidiya, Sufian, Mazar, Al-Khubayra, Hijla, Shamas, Husayn al-Hijla, Al-Hasu, Oudat, Kulib, Morjan and Um Al-Mahfour, as well as several surrounding hamlets. It should be noted that hundreds of civilians stranded in these villages have been evacuated and removed from areas of clashes. These villages were full of mines and booby traps, dismantled by military engineering units, and our forces discovered five tunnels that have been militarily isolated.

During the last four days, our forces clashed with the terrorists directly and heavy battles took place, in which ISIS used heavy weaponry. Our forces managed to blow up two bomb-laden vehicles before they reached their targets. Our forces also destroyed two remote-controlled motorcycles and detonated them. Coalition aircraft launched 34 air strikes targeting terrorist movements and emplacements and caused direct casualties.

In these four days of fighting, our forces have confirmed the death of many terrorists and some others were captured alive. Our forces have also seized arms and ammunition during the operations.”
