SDF commander: ISIS is besieged

Deir ez-Zor Military Council Commander Ismail Ebdullah stated that ISIS has been besieged, saying; “Our operations will continue until the eastern parts of Deir ez-Zor are completely cleared of ISIS.”

Deir ez-Zor Military Council Commander Ismail Ebdullah spoke about the ongoing Operation Jazeera Storm that was launched on May 1st to clear the eastern parts of Deir ez-Zor of ISIS.

Ebdullah remarked that the last phase of the campaign continues with coordination with Iraqi and Coalition forces. He said all the surrounding villages east of the Euphrates River and Iraqi-Syrian border will be cleared of ISIS in this offensive.

The commander noted that a 21 km wide area has been liberated from ISIS since the launch of the final phase on May 1st.

Ebdullah said Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) have besieged ISIS in the east of the Euphrates and the village of Baghous which -he said- is of strategic importance and is located on link road to the Hajin town.

The commander emphasised that SDF and Iraqi forces are acting in coordination against ISIS and protecting the borders of Iraq and Syria from ISIS gangs.

Deir ez-Zor Military Council Commander Ismail Ebdullah added that the Operation Jazeera Storm will continue until the eastern parts of the Euphrates and Syria-Iraq border areas are liberated from ISIS.
