The second step in the third phase of the Operation Wrath of Euphrates continues on its 4th day. Fighters advancing towards Raqqa from three fronts have liberated six villages and numerous locals from ISIS.
The second step in the third phase of the Operation Wrath of Euphrates continues on its 4th day. Fighters advancing towards Raqqa from three fronts have liberated six villages and numerous locals from ISIS.
The third front advancing from Mekmen side have liberated the village of Chawis after an advance of 12 kilometers. Fighters have also rescued many villagers whom ISIS held captive and used as human shields. Following the clearance of mines in the village, residents have turned back home.
Locals are on one hand trying to overcome the fear created by the gangs in the region, as they on the other hand feel happy and pleased over the arrival of SDF fighters. They avoid speaking to cameras for fear that they will get harmed by the ISIS.
"OUR LIFE WILL BE BETTER THAN THE PAST THANKS TO SDF"
An old resident of the Chawis village stated that: "The gangs made us suffer a lot. We used to have a nice life. We could freely walk around and enjoy our time here. Those in the ISIS have no will. I was very happy to see the arrival of SDF fighters. I only hope that SDF will bring us our old life back, and I know that our life will be better than the past thanks to the SDF."
A women from the same village told that she has been crying ceaselessly at home for a few days and could not go out due to her fear of ISIS, which -she said- has ended thanks to the arrival of SDF combatants.
"WE PROMISE OUR PEOPLE TO PROTECT THEM EVERYWHERE"
SDF fighter Emer Heseke who joined the offensive to liberate the village stressed that everywhere where ISIS gangs are, is a target for them, adding: "We as SDF are together with civilians. We are staying in the village near them at the moment. We live together and we are one with them. Our life and everything else is the same. We are very happy that our people have turned back to their village. We will come to the assistance of everyone that calls us. We promise our people, that we will protect them everywhere."
In the meantime, the fighters on the third front of the Operation Wrath of Euphrates, who are advancing on Mekmen-Raqqa have liberated the villages of Sabahul Xêyr and Al-Ferar after an advance of 20 kilometers.
