Commanders within the body of Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) met with representatives of the tribes from Raqqa region. The meeting was also attended by opinion leaders from Al-Welde, one of the prominent tribes in the region, and witnessed a discussion of the advances made in Operation Wrath of Euphrates and recent political developments.
Speaking here, SDF Official Spokesperson Telal Silo announced that villages to the north and west of Raqqa have been cleansed of ISIS groups and that the liberation of Raqqa was near.
Silo underlined that SDF fighters will not allow various forces to cross into Raqqa, noting that the youths of Raqqa will protect and defend their lands.
Remarking that 2500 youths from Raqqa have joined the SDF ranks so far, Silo said the people of the region will govern themselves under the roof of a civilian assembly after the liberation of the city from ISIS occupation.
Pointing out that the Civilian Assembly of Raqqa will be announced officially after a meeting with locals, Silo called on the people of Raqqa to get organized under the roof of this assembly.
Silo also announced that works have started for the formation of assemblies, defense and service efforts in 250 villages liberated in the military campaign for Raqqa.
Colonel Telal Silo called on the youth of Raqqa to join the ranks of the SDF and liberate Tabqa together, and extended his thanks to the Raqqa people that welcome SDF fighters with open arms.
