The 10-day long march started yesterday with a press statement read in front of the European Council of Justice in Luxembourg with the motto “Freedom for Öcalan, Status for Kurdistan” and continues today on the second day. Among the marching crowd are 76 internationalists from 15 countries and representatives from the Kurdish institutions in Europe. They are planning to arrive in Strasbourg on February 10. The marchers will call on institutions like the EU and the CPT to improve conditions for Öcalan and they will meet with many institions on their way. The marchers will attend the rally to be held on February 11 in Strasbourg to protest the international conspiracy against Kurdish People’s Leader Abdullah Öcalan.
CALL TO EUROPE: LIFT BAN ON PKK
Sezai Uçar from the March Preparation Committee said the following:
“We condemn all individuals and powers involved in the international conspiracy. Our march also aims to remove PKK from the terrorist organizations list in Europe. The base slogan of the march is “Freedom for Leader Apo and Status for Kurdistan”. There are 76 internationalist attendees from 15 countries in the march. There are activists from all over Europe and the world, from Brasil, Argentina, Basque Country, Belgium, Germany, France and others. There are doctors, lawyers, artists, students and NGO members among them. This march is undoubtedly very important. The conspiracy aimed to dissolve the national liberation movement in Leader Apo’s person, but that didn’t happen. This march aims to both condemn this, and to physically liberate Leader Apo. There is a significant awareness. There is interest from both the public and the press. And that shows that the Leader’s influence is spreading in the international arena. We believe that we will achieve results with actions and activities like this.”
